About the Role

Experienced Blender required for one of the UK’s growing manufacturing businesses in Manchester

Location: Manchester, M11

Reporting to the Blending Manager, the Blender is responsible for the manufacture of fluids, lotions and waxes and that they are made to specification and are available to manufacturing per the manufacturing plan.

Our client offers:

  • Pay Rate: £24,000 – £28,000pa depending on experience
  • Monday to Friday hours to be confirmed

Our client is looking for the following type of individual:

  • Previous experience mixing blending chemicals in household cleaning products and cosmetics.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written and oral instructions in English, including safety rules, operating procedures, product recipes, material identification, etc.
  • Must have mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Able to perform these operations using weight and volume measurements.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to drive a forklift – have a valid forklift certification.

Main responsibilities and duties:

  • Core raw materials management: controlling storage and stock levels of raw materials.
  • Manage and keep tidy and safe the chemical yards.
  • Set up and start all mixing tanks and associated equipment.
  • Obtain and understand all documentation for making batches. Ensures correct ingredients are used for each batch.
  • Pumping and pouring chemicals into blending tanks in predetermined quantities.
  • Operates equipment (mixers, scales, meters, pumps, forklifts, etc.) safely.
  • Monitors raw material usage on each blend are added correctly with right weights.
  • Ensures all raw materials returned to stock have the right quantity and information on containers and containers are in good condition.
  • Follows lab instructions regarding batch approval, adjustments and any additional requirements.
  • Cleans equipment when needed.
  • Refers issues/problems to Blending Manager.
  • Communicates with blenders and manufacturing when materials are needed and batches are ready to fill.
  • Completes all paperwork and batch documentation in a accurate and timely manner.
  • Observes safety requirements set forth by company.
  • Tends equipment that mixes chemicals ensuring they are maintained to a good condition.
  • Turns valves to admit ingredients into tanks..
  • Starts mixer and allows solution to mix for specified period of time.
  • Turns valve to transfer solution from mixing tank to storage tank.
  • Tests solutions in storage tanks such as viscosity and pH.
  • Records test results, batches of solutions mixed, and chemicals used in each batch for production and stock purposes.
